Coinify's Payment Window is a tool that enables merchants to accept payments from users using cryptocurrencies. The payment window is typically displayed on the user's mobile or desktop device, and allows the user to transfer the payment amount to the merchant using their crypto wallet. This type of payment system is often used for online transactions, where the user is purchasing goods or services remotely.

The Payment Window has not been updated in terms of design, usability and features for several years and required major redesign.

Getting to know the product and stakeholders

I kicked off the process with extensive research to build a solid foundation. This started with mapping the current payment window flow, giving me a clear grasp of how it works today. From there, I ran a workshop with product-savvy team members, using a blueprint diagram to visualize the full payment journey and spark collaborative insights. To capture real user perspectives, I followed up with online interviews with customers and partners, uncovering their key needs and expectations. A deep competitor analysis helped benchmark our product’s market position. Building on this, I dove into Amplitude data analysis and ran A/B tests to validate findings and pinpoint optimization opportunities.

Users pay mostly by scanning QR code with their crypto wallets.

People who use crypto are very sensitive about their privacy and finances, so transparency is very important to gain their trust.

Cases like paying too much or too little often happen because of the fees, and need to be handled by the payment provider.

Wireframes

The process of generating ideas began with creating rough sketches and discussing them with developers to evaluate their feasibility. The design and functionality of the payment window underwent multiple changes and improvements as it was developed in parallel with the new API.

Current version

The latest version addresses all the key issues identified. The primary payment method, QR code, is now the default option for the desktop version and for the mobile version, we have included copy-paste as another payment option making it more user-friendly on mobile. At every stage of the process, users are provided with all the necessary information about their payment and a guide has been created to assist users throughout the process. Additionally, a wider variety of coins has been added and edge cases such as overpayment or underpayment are now handled seamlessly.

Testing and iterating

The product is in a state of constant development and improvement, with new iterations being released regularly. This is achieved by gathering ongoing feedback from users through methods such as user testing and contextual surveys, and tools like Hotjar and Amplitude.
